Privacy Policy & POPIA Notice

Last updated · July 2026

myShopping CC ("myShopping IT", "we", "us") designs, builds, and hosts custom software for South African businesses — including systems that process personal information and, in some cases, special personal information such as health records, on behalf of our clients. We take that responsibility seriously and this notice explains how we handle personal information, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

This policy covers two situations: (1) your visit to this website, and (2) where relevant, your use of a system we've built and host for one of our clients (for example, a practice management or admin system on a subdomain we operate).

What information we collect

On this marketing website, we collect very little automatically:

We do not run third-party advertising or tracking cookies (no Google AdSense, DoubleClick, or similar) on this website.

How we use it

We use the information above to respond to enquiries, scope and deliver projects, operate and secure the systems we host, and meet our own legal and accounting obligations. We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information, and we do not use it for purposes unrelated to why it was collected.

Where your data is processed

Website and system data is hosted with our South African hosting provider. Where a client system stores personal information (for example, patient or customer records within a practice management system we've built), that data remains within our hosting environment unless the client instructs otherwise, and is not transferred outside South Africa without the safeguards POPIA requires.

Cookies

A cookie is a small piece of data a website asks your browser to store, usually to remember who you are between page visits. When you first visit this site, you're asked to choose your preference across three categories — the same choice is available any time via "Manage preferences" in the cookie bar:

You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but doing so will prevent you from staying logged in to any client portal or admin system.

If we build and host a system for your business

Many of our clients operate in regulated or sensitive industries — healthcare being the most common. Where we process personal information on a client's behalf, we act as an Operator under POPIA, and the client remains the Responsible Party. In that relationship:

Our standing commitments

Zero-view support by default. We do not browse or export client records as a matter of course. Access for support purposes requires the client's written authorisation, is logged, and is time-limited.

Data portability. On termination of a hosting or support agreement, the client receives a full export of their data, and we securely delete our copies.

Verified migrations. When we move a client's existing records onto a new system, the migration is tested against a restored copy first, with a working rollback plan — not assumed to work on the first attempt.

Your rights under POPIA

Subject to any legal or contractual limitations, you have the right to:

To exercise any of these rights, email our Information Officer at teboho@myshoppingit.co.za. If your data is held within a client's system rather than by us directly, we may need to direct your request to that business, since they are the Responsible Party for that data.

Complaints

If you believe we have not handled your personal information in line with POPIA, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it directly. You are also entitled to lodge a complaint with South Africa's regulator:

Links to other websites

Our website and the systems we build may link to third-party sites (for example, WhatsApp, or a client's own domain). This policy only covers myShopping IT — once you leave our site, that destination's own privacy policy applies.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our services, technology, or the law changes. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes affecting how we handle your personal information will be communicated to affected clients directly.
